CoronaVirus (Covid-19) 2nd Update 6th March 2020
<<<< FIGURES UPDATE 8th MAY 2020 HERE >>>>
The Coronavirus has moved with such startling speed that a second update to this original article is deemed necesary. As it seems the Coronavirus is on the very edge of being declared a Pandemic (a nation-wide rather than state-wide situation) The world Health Organisation (WHO) has urged countries to “Pull out all the stops” in the fight against the virus.
Since the last update the causulty rates for the coronavirus to date now stand at more than 95,000 infected (up from 28,000) and over 3,200 (up from 560) have died as a result of infection. These figures are rising even as this article is being written.
Stores are reporting empty shelves as folks stock up with essentials, and hospitals are preparing for an influx of patients as this ‘plague’ gathers momentum.
Hand sanitisers and face masks are in hot demand, as are natural remedies known to boost the immune system such as CBD (cannabidiol) products.
The situation remains volatile and there is no doubt that the casualty rate from Coronavirus will increase over time, and this article will need updated once again!
Coronavirus: Post UPDATE 6th Feb 2020
“Since this article was first published only some 10 days ago, the situation regarding the Novel Coronavirus has dramatically worsened. To date there are now 560 reported deaths, and over 28,000 infected worldwide. The situation remains highly volatile as the Coronavirus is now recorded in 28 countries & territories around the world.”
As I write this article the world is in a state of high alert over the recent outbreak of the novel (meaning new) Coronavirus amongst humans. The virus itself is well documented and is not ‘new’ as such, it has been known to affect mammals and birds since its discovery in the 1960’s.
What is new however is the
recent alarming development involving transfer from the animal kingdom to
humans. This was first reported in December 2019 as an outbreak in Wuhan China,
and by the 26 January 2020 (the date of writing this article) it has resulted
in 56 deaths according to This Coronavirus
Report in the New York times.
According to the authorities
in China itself, this is unlikely to stop at these numbers and indeed is likely
to increase exponentially as the virus spreads at an alarming rate. To counter
this China is closing down cities and implementing travel restrictions.
To date, outbreaks of the
Corona virus have now been reported in the following countries outside China
according to CNN.
- Hong Kong: 6 cases
- Macao: 5 cases
- Thailand: 5 cases
- Australia: 4 cases
- Malaysia: 4 cases
- Singapore: 4 cases
- France: 3 cases
- Japan: 3 cases
- South Korea: 3 cases
- Taiwan: 3 cases
- United States: 3 cases
- Vietnam: 2 cases
- Nepal: 1 case
This report is as of 26th

sneezing without covering the face

an infected individual such as shaking hands or kissing

What are the symptoms:
- Classic flue symptoms such as runny nose, coughing.
- Persistant dry cough
- Headache or fever
- General feelings of being unwell including nausea or vomiting
Hong Kong and surrounding
countries are implementing their own travel restrictions, as indeed are other
countries including the United States, Australia, United Kingdom, Japan, South
Korea, Taiwan, and others are all rapidly following suit in order to try and
curb the spread of the coronavirus.
So with all the fear and indeed panic surrounding the spread of this dangerous virus, is it possible that the much-lauded CBD (cannabidiol) could help in the fight against infection? Or could CBD products such as those offered by CBDPure be a remedy for novel Coronavirus?
To begin with I will look at
the animal kingdom, because that is indeed where the virus has come from. In
fact an animal food market in Wuhan, the Huanan seafood market according to ‘Business
Insider’ is believed to be the source of the outbreak.
let’s for a moment consider the known qualities of CBD.
- CBD is well known to have anti-viral properties that can help in the fight against viral attacks such as we have with Coronavirus
- It is also known to have antibacterial properties that assist in fighting different infections that can occur as the body struggles against the virus.
- We know that in the case of canine Coronavirus, intestinal inflammation is a major problem. CBD is known to have excellent anti-inflammatory properties.
- Coronavirus can induce nausea and vomiting, both of which can be effectively treated with CBD.
- Anyone fighting a virus can become anxious and agitated, and Coronavirus is no exception. CBD is known to be efficacious against these symptoms of stress and anxiety.
It has to be said that any
claims of CBD being used effectively to fight Coronavirus is at this time
entirely speculative, as there have be no scientific tests to verify such a
However if we look at the
subjective/speculative argument surrounding CBD in general and the many claims
of its effectiveness against the symptoms listed above, then it begs the
Why would CBD NOT be effective in the battle against Coronavirus? And is it not worth it to even try CBD as a deterrent against catching Coronavirus in the first instance?
CBD is after all not officially recognised as a ‘medicine’ so there is no restrictions as to its use in this regard.
Does CBD Have Any Side
To date the only real ‘side
effect’ that this writer has found regarding the use of CBD, is the effect on
the purse or wallet! Good quality CBD comes at a price – poor quality CBD is
not even worth considering!
Is CBD a drug – after all it is derived from the Cannabis plant. The answer to this is an emphatic NO. CBD is just one of the cannabinoids present in the Cannabis plant and it is perfectly safe to use with no side-effects or drug-induced stupor involved!
THC is the restricted cannabinoid found in the cannabis plant – and it is in miniscule doses in legal CBD products (less than 0.3%).
CBD oil will NOT get you high (read this post for more info).
This sad/scary story continues apace as the Coronavirus continues its relentless spread – who knows how far it will go and how many people will lose their lives before its all over.
