Maryland passes HB 1123 to legalize industrial hemp farming



New Maryland Hemp Legislation Signed Into Law
Nowadays Governor Hogan signed HB 1123 into law. The bill, which was introduced by Delegate David Fraser-Hidalgo, creates the Hemp Farming System which authorizes the state to regulate industrial hemp farming according to the 2018 Farm Bill. Beginning in 2020, Maryland farmers will no longer want to companion with universities to develop the crop.

2019 Hemp Applications
The Maryland Division of Agriculture has begun accepting applications to develop hemp for study in 2019. Applicants will have to companion with a university for this expanding season as the regulations have been made beneath the 2014 Farm Bill.
